Cowboys fans fed up with organization, indicate change is needed
The Dallas Cowboys’ lost season that was almost found, but lost again, will mercifully come to an end after one more game. The Cowboys play the Washington Commanders on Sunday, then move on to the 2025 offseason.
The team will have plenty of decisions to make. They have the regular ones like deciding on free agents, making choices about extending contracts for players, and preparing for the 2025 NFL Draft.
They do have one decision to make that doesn’t present itself on a regular basis, and that is whether to keep their head coach, Mike McCarthy. It felt certain that McCarthy would be allowed to walk away once his contract was over, but the late-season winning has changed the narrative. To this point, Jerry and Stephen Jones have been coy about whether McCarthy will return, but the fanbase isn’t.
Cowboys fans have no confidence in the direction of the franchise. And while much of that sentiment is probably directed at Jerry Jones, some of it is also aimed at McCarthy.
Only 5% of Cowboys fans feel confident about the direction of the team.

Not exactly a ringing endorsement of McCarthy or the Jones family. We know the Joneses aren’t going anywhere, so McCarthy could be the fall guy.
This week McCarthy might be coaching his final game for Dallas. They will end the season against the Commanders, who were three-point favorites to start the week, and only 13% of people thought Dallas would cover. The odds have ballooned since then to Dallas being 6.5-point underdogs.
