Just received the heartbreaking news of the passing of our beloved teammate Larry Allen. He was a HOF offensive lineman that dominated opponents regardless of the position played. Off the field, he was a gentle giant that loved his family. Rest in Peace LA

Stunned to hear of the loss of the great Larry Allen, arguably the greatest OL in @dallascowboys history and one of the best ever to play. A wonder of a player. RIP Big LA

Such sad news about the passing of @dallascowboys HOF OL Larry Allen. One of the most dominant players ever. He also had one of the best speeches ever at his @ProFootballHOF enshrinement – especially how he knew his wife was a perfect match. RIP and condolences to his family and…

For myself, Larry Allen was a mythological figure that I got to watch with a child’s wonder and an adult’s respect. He was a legend among legends on those great Cowboys teams; so good at a generally underappreciated position that he still became one of the most hallowed names of all time.
It’s always crazy to think that Zack Martin would be the greatest guard in franchise history for most NFL teams, but he’ll always be second fiddle to Allen. That’s how incredible L.A. was, and it’s one of the few perks of age to be able to say that I got to watch him, Troy Aikman, Emmitt Smith, Michael Irvin, and others during those glorious years.
