Cowboys vs Commanders recap: Social media reaction to final game of the season
The Dallas Cowboys took on the Washington Commanders in what was the final game of the season for Dallas. It came down to the last three seconds of the game for Washington to seal the victory. But how did social media react to the game this week?
We got the news of Trey Lance before the game.
Micah Parsons had an insane first quarter and dropped the quarterback twice.
Micah is having the best quarter of his career right now LOL

Micah Parsons just blew through a double-team, fought off Brian Robinson and still got a pressure on Jayden Daniels on 2nd & 15.

The NFL players who have had at least a dozen sacks in each of their first four years in the league…

Brandon Aubrey put the first points on the board and set a franchise record.
Now a two-time Pro Bowler, Brandon Aubrey just set the #Cowboys franchise record for most made field goals in a season.
The previous record was also set by him, in 2023. pic.twitter.com/EhJPeVbCPf

Jake Ferguson continued to have a down game.
Jake Ferguson has not had a good year

With a smart play on special teams, C.J. Goodwin made a huge play on a punt return and recovered the ball.
Put some respect on CJ Goodwin’s name

Aubrey made it 6-0 with another field goal.
Washington got on the board after a failed trick play.
Commanders settle for a FG to cut Dallas lead to 6-3, but should’ve had a TD if Olamide Zaccheaus didn’t stumble in the end zone trying to catch a Dyami Brown pass on a trick play.

Cowboys fourth-round trades connected on a play.
And this year’s first-round draft pick later got pulled.
After two penalties in this first half from Tyler Guyton, we’re seeing Asim Richards at left tackle.

Trey Lance extended the play but failed to accurately deliver the pass.
Trey Lance shows off the duality of his current situation on one play. Makes a free rusher miss, extends the play, has a man open and … comes up short with the pass on 4th and goal.
Potential? Yes. Polish? No.

Dowdle wide open and Lance shorts it.
The escapabilty is there, staying on his feet, looking downfield, finds the open man…but the throw was way off.

It stayed a kicker game as Aubrey’s field goal kept Dallas ahead in the third quarter.
Cowboys have to settle for another red-zone FG. Aubrey from 36 yards makes it 9-3. Trey Lance sacked on third down after early pressure. Might’ve been able to force a throw but at least the Cowboys got points out of the drive.

The first touchdown of the day went to Washington.
Marcus Mariota then ran the ball to give Washington the lead.
Rico Dowdle helped Dallas retake the lead with a short run.
It took five trips to the red zone and three attempts from the one-yard line but the Cowboys finally find the end zone. Rico Dowdle TD.

The game went down to the wire,
We got three minutes left in the game and Washington could tie this up with a field goal and send the game into OT….would you believe it???#DallasCowboys

We’re going to overtime, aren’t we
— Nick Harris (@NickHarrisFWST) January 5, 2025
Commanders sure love playing close games
— Zach Wolchuk (@ZachWolchuk) January 5, 2025
With seconds left on the clock, Mariota finds a way to win.
Wooooow what a drive by Washington cant even front

The game left with some emotional questions.
This will likely be the last time these three 2021 draftmates will play together, so it’s only fitting that all three got a sack in this game.pic.twitter.com/xKzYeozE20

Typical… Just typical…
And that is the end of the 2024 Dallas Cowboys season…
A lot of changes needed…

Cowboys played with just enough heart to prove Mike McCarthy should keep his job but also lost to improve their draft stock
Ideal performance
