Chief Garcia said the officers are expected to make full recoveries. He also thanked the fire department, which he said provided additional help in getting the officers to safety.
“I would be remiss if I did not point out the amazing work of our fire department who actually provided cover for our police officers to extract our wounded officers out of the scene,” said Garcia.
SWAT responded to the scene and set up a perimeter. They tried several times to get the suspect to surrender, but at 1:27 p.m., SWAT officers breached the home, police said.
Inside the found a man thought to be the person who fired at the officers and a woman dead from a gunshot wound, police said.
Officers did not fire any shots during the incident, police said.
The identities of the two people who were found dead and the two officers have not been released.
