Dallas Cowboys injuries: Deuce Vaughn dealing with hamstring issue
The Dallas Cowboys had the day off on Thursday but are back in action Friday for their third padded practice of training camp. With pads coming on there are sometimes things that can slip through the hysteria, even though attendance was allegedly not so high during the first padded practice, and it seems we have stumbled upon one of those things.
As far as injuries are concerned the Cowboys have already lost defensive end Sam Williams to a torn ACL, but other than that news has been mild. Rookie wide receiver Ryan Flournoy has had a knee thing that the team is being cautious with, but second-year running back Deuce Vaughn has missed time. It is difficult to find any report of this.
How do we know that Vaughn did? ESPN’s Todd Archer shared that he has missed the last two practices and that he is dealing with a hamstring issue. Some combing through Twitter yields a tweet from Archer on the 31st (the second padded practice) noting that Vaughn did cord work after opening practice in full uniform.

In 2 padded practices, Prescott is unofficially 29 of 47 in team, 7 on 7 drills.
RB Deuce Vaughn spent time doing work on the cords after opening practice in full uniform.

All due respect to Vaughn, it is pretty unbelievable that he could miss two practices and that there would be no real mention of it anywhere. Perhaps that does not bode well for his chances of making the final roster, although that feels like a gross overreaction here.
The Cowboys have seen veteran Royce Freeman popping off a bit. Freeman met with the media recently and was asked what he envisions his role being and it appears he is willing to do anything and everything to contribute.
“I don’t know. Whatever they ask of me. That’s kind of how it’s been for me as recent in my career. I can do a lot of things. I think that’s why I’m an asset to a team and to an offense, special teams as well. So whatever they ask of me, honestly.”
