Cowboys CeeDee Lamb becomes first wide receiver since 2012 to accomplish this feat

CeeDee Lamb finished the 2023 campaign with a league-leading 135 receptions (the first player in team history to lead the NFL in receptions). He amassed the second-highest total in receiving yards (1,749) and was third in receiving touchdowns (12) as well. Lamb caught all 13 of his targets for 98 yards and scored two touchdowns in the Cowboys 38-10 victory against the Washington Commanders to clinch the NFC East and the No.2 seed in the conference.

This performance allowed Lamb to accomplish something no wide receiver has in over a decade. It gave him a score in nine consecutive games, making him the first receiver to do so since A.J. Green in 2012.

It was truly a remarkable season for Lamb. He now has 5,145 receiving yards for his career which is the fourth-highest total for any receiver in NFL history in their first four seasons, trailing Justin Jefferson (5,899), Michael Thomas (5,512), and Hall of Famer Randy Moss (5,396). Also, Lamb became the fourth receiver with at least 125 receptions and 10 touchdown receptions in a season and just the sixth player to amass 130 catches in a single year.

The Cowboys won their last two games of the season after back-to-back losses to the Buffalo Bills and Miami Dolphins, which put them behind the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC East. Now that the division title is secured, thanks in large part to the Eagles losing five of their last six games, Lamb is turning the page to the postseason a matchup with the Green Bay Packers, a team that’s caused them multiple heartbreaking playoff defeats over the last decade. He understands that there’s a lot more for the Cowboys to get done despite winning 12 games for the third year in a row.

“The job isn’t finished,” said Lamb. “But we’re definitely going to enjoy this moment. Happy to be back in the playoffs, of course, and happy to be back at home.”

Dallas has won 16 straight games at AT&T Stadium, and Lamb has scored a touchdown in seven consecutive games there. So, smart money says he’ll be lighting the scoreboard up next weekend.
